EN-787 Network Security Engineer - Contract - Bethesda, MD (Local Candidates Only)
Contract length: 1+ year

A division of the U.S. National Library of Medicine needs a Security Specialist to:
o. Conduct periodic security administration tasks including firewall management, security scan and remediation, security monitoring and auditing, network setup and administration to ensure organization computing resources are in compliance with Federal Government requirements;
o. Provide daily technical support related to security and network requests;
o. Generate monthly report with recommendations to enhance security and infrastructure operation;
o. Work with Security Committee and other stakeholders to coordinate security and network change requirements;
o. Assist managers to evaluate technical solutions and to define process and procedures;
Requirements
o. 5+ years experience as security engineer working in a heterogeneous environment running Linux, Windows and Mac operating systems (Required)
o. Hands-on experience in firewall management and administration; especially on CISCO PIX (Required)
o. Hands-on experience in configuring and administrating network switches (Required)
o. Hands-on experience in DNS, NFS, NIS, LDAP or AD (Required)
o. Practical experience and good understanding in network protocols such as TCP/IP, FTP or spanning tree (Required)
o. Demonstrated capability in debugging, tracking, fixing and investigating security and network related issues (Required)
o. A Bachelor�s degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering or other equivalent engineering discipline (Required)
o. An advanced degree is highly desirable.
o. CISSP, CCSP, CCIE or CCNP certification is highly desirable.
